This recorder is simple and its layout and function and provides exactly what a user needs for making personal notes on a recorder. This recorder is excellent for keeping address books, information and memos in a manner in which they can be quickly and easily located and scanned. The volume is exceptionally loud, something that is especially important for persons who are older and have some age related hearing loss. This appears to me to be the best quick notetaking recorder of any that I have seen in the past 10 years.

I was looking for an easy-to-use mp3 player and find that this device is not very useful to actually play music albums, etc. I will keep it as a recorder, but I definitely need to re-adjust my expectations for the device.
I felt that Even the older model was attractive because of its decent quality recording and playback, but this has even more:
+~ A very bright green LED shows the unit is ready to play and not recording.
+~ Very nice movement among recordings, forward and backward! Is there a way to quickly move among many recordings in predictable ways? Jump to first recording, or to recording furthest from the first and last?
+~ Please Do tout the fact that MicroSpeak now has audible Cue and Review! If you press and hold Forward, you hear the audio passing quickly. The same is true of Rewind, but it always stops at the start of the recording.
+~ When MSR3 is connected to PC or notetaker, it becomes an external sound card in addition to allowing access to its files! I have found that audio files can be placed in the root, or any other folder, and that its legacy REC###.wav files play normally.
+~ The headphone jack fits plugs better than the older model.
+~ Most notable enhancement: Far less data loss due to accidental power-off. I recorded something and cut power during the recording. But, the recording was not lost! This is a major PLUS!
I Do have wishes, but they are not enough to deter use:
~ Wish recording numbers were announced.
~ Wish the msd card slot had indentations on both sides of the card, not just one.
~ Other sources are saying 32GB. Please clarify max card capacity.
~ Wish voice guidance and beeps were just a bit softer.
~ I sure hope this full charge message mentioned in the guide is spoken.
~ Wish this display showed light characters on a dark background.
As I said, I still think it's a real winner.
